You know, the Mille Miglia is a wonderful mess. This year: 375 wonderful classic cars, nearly one support car for each vintage car (with mechanics and spare parts), 135 Ferraris (the most “pissed” ones were the Germans: ALL their 430 Scuderias had a tuned exhaust) and thousand cars that enjoyed the race following the same path.
I was very lucky: I saw my first TVR Tamora which probably was there ready to run for 1.600 kms close to a Ferrari, a Maserati, an Aston Martin.
I’m quite sure if the REAL Mille Miglia could be raced nowadays, dozen TVR owners could attend the event simply with a race number on the body but no mechanical modifications needed. Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini couldn’t be at the starting grid with totally a road legal unit.
