Here are a simple analisys of the average values for used TVRs for sale (average values in UK, the main market for TVR and “Rest of the World”, mainly Europe). We decided to consider every TVR since the beginning of Peter Wheeler‘s era (from the TVR Chimaera to the TVR Sagaris). We monitored the TVR market looking at some fundamental sources: Pistonheads’s Classifieds section, Autoscout24, Mobile.de and Ebay. We started this iniziative on last January and looked recently again at TVR values to understand where they’re going.

Two markets

There are two fundamental markets for TVR with different prices: Great Britain and Rest of the World. Most part of TVRs (with right hand drive) are located in UK so here offers are many and prices are obviously lower than in other countries. Elsewhere you usually may expect a higher value for RHD. LHD TVRs are very rare. That’s the reason why average values are commonly doubled. So while in UK every TVR is perceived as an “used car” and is simple to find a TVR for sale, in the Rest of the World (especially for left hand drive cars) they’re very rare (outside England you can find them in Holland, Germany and Italy) and are totally collection cars.

UK: according to results average values drop, most of all TVR Chimaeras, TVR Tuscan Spider and Sagaris. We find that only one car, TVR Griffith, seems to be more appreciated than last Junuary.

Rest of the World: values drop too but we cannot say exactely it’s a precise market phenomenon: exchanges are few and we don’t know under what conditions they happened: if a owner spent a lot to keep his TVR in the best conditions probably he will ask a high price. If a owner, due to the crisis, need to sell quickly his car, maybe he could have sold it for a low price.

Market results

TVR Chimaera. In UK values drop from an average 11,217 £ to 9,684 (-15,84%). According to European values, RHD Chimaeras’ rates drop from 14.650 € to 13.644 (-7,37%). LHD Chimaeras’ rates drop from 32.405 € to 30.687 € (-5,6%).

TVR Cerbera. “pre ’02” models in UK lost a 1,000 £ (from 14,015 £ to 13,349 £, -4,99%) and “post ’02” models drop from 20.841 £ to 18,674 (-4,9%). In Europe we noticed a very weak trade so even if we found -30% maybe this isn’t eligible for a correct trend.

TVR Griffith. RHD Griffiths in UK go up from 14,650 £ to 15.273 so we noticed an interesting +4%. In Europe results are different: – 2,65% for RHD Griffiths, -10% for LHD Griffiths.

TVR Tuscan Mk1. In UK Tuscan MK1 average values go from 17,094 £ to 16,094 £ (-6,2%). Tuscans in Europe: RHD models go from 22.937 € to 19.484 € (-22,8%). LHD models fall from 66.000 € to 49.700 (-32%).

TVR Tuscan S Mk1. In UK Tuscan MK1 average values go from 21,345 £ to 20,983 £ (almost stable: -1,7%). Tuscan Ss in Europe: LHD models go from 45.616 € to 44.900 (almost stable: -1,6%).

TVR Tuscan Mk2. In UK Tuscan MK2 average values go from 27,492 £ to 26,982 £ (-1,9%). Tuscans in Europe: LHD models fall from 72.250 € to 63.750 (-13%).

TVR Tuscan S Mk2. In UK Tuscan S MK2 average values go from 30,194 £ to 29,546 £ (-2,89%). For Europe we did not observe significant exchange.

TVR Tuscan Spider. We can cover only UK models: from 31,186 £ to 26,996£ (-15,52%).

TVR Tamora. We can cover only UK models: from 18,284 £ to 18,293 £ (+0,05%). Tamora are almost stable.

TVR T350 (both Coupé and Targa). We can cover only UK models: from 21,638 £ to 20,601 £ (-5,04%).

TVR Sagaris. Sagaris’ values in UK go from 39.695 £ to 36,668 (-8,26%). As concerns Europe we could expect, for a LHD Tvr Sagaris, an average value of 70 – 75.000 € (at present).
