In 1976 TVR finally made an important and long awaited change to the TVR 3000M range. The car now had an opening luggage area! The new car, renamed Taimar, featured an opening, one piece glass tailgate making it a practical proposition for many enthusiasts. The Taimar was presented at the Earls Court Motor Show of 1976 and was TVR’s answer to persistent complaints of both the motoring press and customers on the lack of accessible luggage space of the TVR 3000M.

Apart from some minor trim changes the rest of the car remained unchanged, however a 2500 model was never made available. Performance from the Ford 3.0 litre V6 unit was unchanged thanks to the very small weight increase which was only 20Ibs.
The release button for the hatch was cleverly placed in the driver’s door jamb. The increased practicality of an opening boot was instantly appreciated by the TVR buying public and the Taimar already outsold the classic TVR 3000M in its first production year.

Produced from 1976 until the end, 395 Taimars have been built.
