There are several other important news about the new TVR that is going to be unveiled at next Goodwood Festival of Speed. the first two:
1) It will be a ROADSTER
2) It will be equipped with a CORVETTE engine
Nikolai Smolenski, current TVR boss, said that his new car will have a modified version of the traditional steel backbone chassis and all-independent suspension that were used for all previous TVR models.
A V8 CORVETTE
As concerns the engine Smolenski said: “We looked at every engine available — including making our own — and decided that the Corvette was the most powerful off-the-shelf design going. Fitting it to our chassis allows us to meet all current regulations and is not too big a step”.
GULLWING GmbH
Alan Lubinsky, AC Cars owner (he recently revealed the AC Cobra MK VI at Geneva Autoshow), could be the essential man of the German affair of the new TVR. Gullwing Gmbh could build the new cars. But nothing is official yet.
A HYBRID TVR? AN AUTOMATIC TVR?
Smolenski spoke also about a new concepts that never has been cited with regards to Wilkinson and Wheeler’s cars: “I always wanted an automatic model,” he said, “but the chassis wouldn’t allow either a regular auto or an automated manual. The hybrid concept would allow us to kick out the conventional gearbox completely.”
